John Brenden
served in the Senate in 1993. He was appointed to replace Sen.
Dennis Nathe, R-Redstone, who died in Helena during the
legislative session.
Because of the reapportionment of 1993, Brenden was unable to
run for re-election in 1994, but can now run for the office
because of the reapportionment of 2003. Brenden won the 2008
District #18 primary.
Brenden, 66, has been active in GOP politics, serving two terms
as chairman of the Montana Republican Party 1983-1987.
He represented Montana on the Northwest Power Planning Council
1989-1992, being appointed by Gov. Stan Stephens. Brenden served
on the Fish, Wildlife and Parks Commission 2003-2006. He was a
public member of the Legislative Environmental Quality Council
from 2007-2008.
He has been active in farm and natural-resource issues, a
variety of community affairs, musical and education activities
and the Scobey Lutheran Church.
Senate District 18 includes all of Daniels and Sheridan
counties, and portions of Phillips, Valley, Roosevelt and
Richland counties.
The Montana primary election is June 5th and the general election
is November 6th.
